Have you ever seen an awesome pre-rendered cut scene or trailer for a game? If yes, then there's a damn good chance it was done by Blur Studios. Its kind of ridiculous how much epic win they've managed to concentrate in their offices.

Arcade Fire Browser Made Music Video

Its pretty hard to describe what you're about to see, but I can confidently say you've never seen something like it before. Well, unless you're from the future and/or reading this blog's archive. I'm sure this shit is all the rage on the moon.
Note, you HAVE to have to use the Chrome browser to view this incredible dynamic art, so if for some reason you're still stuck on some other wannabe "thing", here's a good reason to go try it out.

Aviary Browser Tools

This release took me entirely by surprise, and I like to think I'm at least a little on top of developing technology. Aviary has released a set of 6 free fully featured tools that run entirely in your browser. In case you missed the salient point, these things run entirely inside your mother f***ing browser! They've got a lovely tool that simply for taking screen shots (Falcon) and marking them up, all the way to a Photoshop clone and a remixing board. Thats right, I composed and distributed a song entirely from within Chrome. Considering it took me about 15 min from my very first time booting the program to finished product, thats impressive.
Its available for Chrome and Firefox, which should cover everyone... right?

The Jaguar Supercomputer Puts Real Cat to Shame
-
Interesting,
Nerdy,
Website
Allow me to start this post with some perspective. An extremely nice home computer right now might have a quad core processor, 8GB of on board RAM and a Terabyte hard drive.
This preposterous monster they cooked up in the name of science (FOR SCIENCE!!), The Jaguar, is slightly better than the machine I mentioned before. For instance, they scaled up from 4 cores to around 255,000!! Its got 16GB of RAM per processor, giving it a total of 261 GB of RAM. That goes nicely with its 10,750 Terabytes of hard drive space. Oh, and each of those 192 servers that makes up its storage space can spit out information to the computer at 1.25 GB/s. That's 240 GB/s total.
Yes, this machine could load everything on all the computers of all your immediate relatives into memory in under a second. And then it'd compute the shit out of that data.
Possible downsides include its 4,500 square ft footprint, and a bit of an electricity bill from its 50,000,000 kW annual operating usage.

Hurting Others is Good for the Children
-
Interesting,
Video,
Website
So I don't know if any of you have heard of the now annual Desert Bus fund raising event before, but its a damn creative way to encourage people to donate. In short these 4 people promise to keep playing this incredibly boring game for as long as people keep donating (with the required price going up each hour). Apparently people love the idea that their money not only goes to helping children but that it also directly causes misery in a bunch of uppity nerds because this year in 5 days they raised $132,438.94!
I want you to read the description below and watch the video, then imagine playing this game non-stop for 5 days and 16 hours. They're fucking crazy!

Jim Carrey's Website is Craaazy
Turns out Jim Carrey has a fittingly esoteric and crazy website that's actually just fun to poke around. I highly recommend at least clicking on the "Origins" button in the lower right and let yourself be pulled into Canada by a massive squid tentacle. If that doesn't pique your interest, well I don't really know what else to say =)
