LotR Facebook Updates

Behold what Lord of the Rings would have been like if everyone had Blackberries, iPhones and Facebook. There are more of these from Gandalf, Sauron and such.

"My bad" >_<

Mass Effect 2 Release Trailer

Yeah yeah, so half of you probably don't know what Mass Effect even is but this trailer is so epic that I had to post it regardless. For the other half, this is just all kinds of win. Only a week left!!

Ghetto Hogwarts

A moving story about teaching magic to under privileged kids. They've only got 1 hippogryph, yo.

Best CG Intro Ever

Alaska officially houses my favorite hockey team ever. Not because of anything having to do with hockey, but instead because of their F-16 piloting super bears. Mmmmmm.

You are Dead, Dead.

If the "Still Alive" song from Portal is the best credit roll song (and it probably is) then this game over song from Total Distortion has to be the best in class also. Its drawn out, mocking, funny, and catchy. I'd have to lose every once and a while just for good measure.

Metamorphose

Never before (and probably never again) have I been simultaneously so impressed and confused by a naked man. The fact that these shots were taken in 1988 makes it only that much more impressive. I'd guess there is was no digital enhancement run on these things... wow. Amazing time lapse.

"Smack my Bitch Up" Remade

Here's some proof that remixed electronic music is stupidly simple and takes little time or artistic talent to create. Oh wait...

Watch Jim Pavloff entirely remake Prodigy's famous song, "Smack My Bitch Up." No that line is not PC nor do I condone domestic violence but the song certainly is awesome as is the work put into.

Death Metal Rooster

Its short, simple, and hardcore. Just the way ya like it. This is the most metal thing since death metal baby...

Dakar Rally 2010

This set of pictures from the off road desert race, the Dakar Rally, are amazing pieces of art. I can't figure out how these photographers managed to capture such beautiful moments in such stunning detail, but they did. You'd be doing yourself a massive disservice by not checking them out.

Post your thoughts on which photo was the best. I might have to go for the very first one with that fan of sand, or the one I posted below.

(Also note how fast their shutter speeds are. There is a helicopter shot where the blade looks entirely static O_o)

Rock and Roll Fail

Sometimes Queen is just too damn awesome for even cars to handle.
For me, for me, for MEEEEEEEE!

Modern Warfare 2: Twilight

This movie is perhaps a niche one, but it draws from two very large niches. By combining Twilight and Modern Warfare, Activision presents the most popular franchise... ever

Karaoke Is Not For Everyone

Lol, owls. This is a perfect example of that proven lolcat formula, "a picture with a few words is worth several thousand words".

Its a Frap!

I'm gonna be honest, if I have to explain this to you then its too late for you already. Still, I'll provide a YouTube link for those who want to relive the glory.

Date Wars: Now With More Explosion

Here's another one of SMBC's short films, illustrating the time old battle between one person desiring a connection and another wanting plain sex. Oh yeah, except this time they have gratuitous explosions, lasers and lightning. I mean seriously, is there anything excessive FX budgets can't fix?

Love is a battlefield.

Double header

Well when I graced Amazing Super Powers with my presence I discovered two wonder sets of things I wanted to share. First off is today's comic about the dangers of talking about movies before you're clear of the theater entrance. You don't want to spoil it for everyone else. Secondly, check out how freaking amazing his Etch A Sketch art is!! I mean, seriously, its a wasted talent but a talent none the less.

Christmas Tree Rocket

Have you ever looked at your Christmas tree and thought, "Man, its kind of pointy. I bet if I strapped enough rockets to the thing I could make it fly..." Well your answer doesn't really matter, because these guys beat you to it. This all American Christmas celebration once again proves that we're masters of things involving ridiculous backyard engineering and fire.

Avatar is Pocahontas?

Oh noes, the internet has revealed James Cameron's twisted plagiarism of a Disney classic! Okay, to be honest its not like this story hasn't been told many times in many different formats and the Native American (First Nations for you Canadians) influence is clear in Avatar, but I do like how nicely the two stories swap. The John Smith to Jake Sully is just too good.

The Third & The Seventh

This video is not fast paced or flashy but the quality of the effects, movement and “camera” work is sure to grab your eye. The Third & The Seventh is 100% computer generated, which becomes harder to believe the more you watch.

Freeze and enhance

Here's a montage illustrating one of the most classic digital sleuthing techniques, the "freeze and enhance." Obviously all images actually have a lot of extra data hidden within themselves that can only be tapped by computer wizards using eigenvectors and pixel up-resolutioners... or something...

Viva Hollywood science!

Strange German Dolls Singing

You know those moments that just seem to confirm that every other culture is WAY weirder than your own? Well you're wrong, but this certainly adds weight to your argument. Unless of course you're German, in which case you're weird by association ;)

Behold this strange mix of videogames, space age outfits, and creepy German dolls.
