You Know You're a Nerd When...

You know you're a nerd when the first thing you notice about this photo is that scale on those AT-ATs is totally off. They should be towering above those trees and way wider than the street. Clearly 'shopped. You can tell by the pixels and myself having seen quite a few in my day.

Now here's a mind fuck for you. When I first was looking at these photos I thought, "sure, they're pretty good but its not that hard to see that they're actually little models." Oh how embarrassing when I discovered my "obvious" discovery was wrong. Indeed, these are actually real shots with a particular shifted lens and/or depth of field post effect that makes them look like models. Thats right, these are all from real life. Wikipedia it!

Simplified Ratings

Hmmm, I was debating between switching my little rating system to a 5 star one or a simple thumbs up, thumbs down one, but then this lovely YouTube article sold me on the basic solution. Simply put, people don't use the middle stars anyway. If you like a video a lot, you put five stars, if its only decent you don't bother to rate, and if its total garbage you might put one star. So yeah, rate below what you think of my new change =P

Only the Japanese could come up with a cute robot to eat snow, poop ice blocks, and do it all in the name of helping the elderly. That being said, I totally want one. My snow forts would be the most epic in all the land, and no one would dare question of my army of loyal robot minions. Buahahahaha! The future is here!

I don't know what skill this is, but she has far too much of it. I'm pretty sure she was created by replacing the soul of a gymnast with that of a basketball player. That can't be natural.

This catchy song has some great sounds and the main dancer in it has some very impressive moves. I don't know though, is he good enough that you'd pay to dance with him in a dingy warehouse? I'll leave that up to you.

Making Something Out of Nothing

I don't know how many of you out there are sailors, but I think anyone can appreciate this. To put it simply, some sailors said "Fuck you physics, we're going fast" and then accelerated their trimaran to 20 knots in a 2 knot wind. Thats right, these guys got going ten times faster than the wind that was powering them. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Hitler's Battletech Game Goes Awry

This clip from "The Downfall" has been used is a ridiculous amount of parodies, but this particularly nerdy take on it is by far my favorite. The amount you'll laugh is most likely directly proportional to your exposure to gaming culture, so you could think of it as a nerd litmus test. In that regard, I win!

The Bat Bomb

I've seen many articles on the bizarre wonder weapons that Germany created during WWII, but this American project certainly takes the cake on the strangeness factor. Whats even more odd is apparently how well it worked! Well, animal cruelty issues aside... That part is a little disturbing. It is certainly creative though.
