Weirdest Soccer Game Ever?

This is the weirdest soccer/football clip I may have ever seen. In 1994 due to a bizzare rule about the results of sudden death after a tie, Barbados intentionally scored on them self in the last few minutes and then defended BOTH goals to prevent the tie from breaking either way. Wikipedia will explain it better; I'm lazy.

Is This Paper Stupid?

Its always nice to have a friend around to help you out when you need some proof reading as long as you can gracefully take the criticism. You know they're just calling out what they see.

Obama Is Gonna Kick Ass

Ah man, if only autotuning could actually fix the oil spill... It certainly is worth a laugh though.

Expert.

Here's a (satirical) interview with a BP exec who takes the time to explain where they're coming from. You might think these two look similar to the two who explained away an oil tanker accident in Australia where the front fell off, but that's crazy... crazy funny! The accent certainly helps.

The Adventure Factory

I discovered this nifty platforming game level editor that allows you to make little adventures to torture amuse your friends with. I got so into it I ended up making 5 levels which I'll link past the break so that you can all berate my terrible level design skills. Note that I had to beat these things to upload them; So yes, they're all possible.

You control your character with the arrow keys (up to jump) and use space to attack. Each of the characters has a few special skills you'll discover along the way.

Smokin' Hot Fireman Dies In A Fire

This touching tribute to a fallen hero and total hottie is as inspiring as it is tragic. To think such a beautiful man could die fully clothed is almost too much to bear.

E3 Star Wars the Old Republic Trailer

Today heralds the start of E3, and what better way to kick off the event then with this awesome Star Wars trailer that Bioware showcased. It doesn't really tell us any more about the game or how it will play, but I'll be damed if this isn't some sexy action. I love how the designers envision the fight between the Republic and the Sith.

US Government Probably Has A Space Laser

I mean, how else could you explain something like this? Moving water causing soluble minerals to dissolve and leave an underground chasm? Pshhhh, definitely a laser... a moon laser...

Automated Lego Builder Made of Legos

If you've ever wondered how the Germans got their reputation as amazing engineers, its probably because they invented the rocket, fission, electron microscopes and decaffeination. Or if none of those sold you, check out this factory built entirely out of Legos that builds Lego airplanes. You can even pick the colors you want! Also check out this Lego auto factory and printer!

All they need now is a Lego factory that builds Lego factories, and our rule as the dominant species is over.

I recommend playing some music in the background, the sound is rather dull.

Laughter is the best medicine right?

If you see someone drowning; lol. Then call 911.

TADD: Tollbooths Against Drunk Driving

You might think that 6am is a bit early to be hitting the sauce, but you're also probably someone who's never jumped a tollbooth to save yourself a few bucks. Or walked away from the smoking ruin of your Ford with only a broken wrist, and then have your car explode. I have to admit this is probably the coolest DUI ever, but still... don't do it.

Check out the full story here!

Gabe of Penny Arcade tries his hand at editorial cartoons... in the Star Wars universe of course. Take that Emperor Palpetine!!

Underwater Base Jumping

In this kind of base jumping its not getting down where you die, its the part when you fail to get back up. Well, unless you're a badass free diver like Guillaume Nery who holds the world record for deepest free dive (just holding his breath) at 112m. Then you just decide rock climbing is the best way back, right?

A Totally Real Human

This guy is totally a real person. There is no way this is actually just a 3d render straight out of a computer. This is a photo. Yep. Oh, wait. WHAT THE FUCK?!

PS: This could almost be me in 20 years (after black hair dye and a broken nose perhaps?)

Two Years of Daily Photos

The string of photo updates isn't really original at this point, but this guy went over the top. Not only did he not take a single day of vacation in two years so he could get a photo EVERY day, he also intentionally altered his style and positions each day so that the animation is actually fun to watch. Oh, and he timed it brilliantly to Buckethead which is an epic win.

Last Flight of Atlantis

As some of you might know, the space shuttle Atlantis returned from its final flight this week heralding the end of NASAs manned spaceflight for the near coming years. So take some time to ponder on what lies in spaceflight's future, and enjoy this epic footage of STS-132's launch.

Star Wars Cantina a la Star Wars

Its hard to say if this is actually a good advertisement, but I'm clearly a sucker for Star Wars (and Daft Punk) so here it is. Damn, and now I've got that song stuck in my head...

Craig Ferguson Figures Out Life

Isn't it funny how comedians frequently make somewhat profound observations in their quest for laughter? They also make a lot of dirty jokes, but thats besides the point. Seriously, this is poignant shit!

Ninja Helicopters

Okay, so the real title to this clip is, "Aggressive Maneuvers for Autonomous Quadrotor Flight", but I think we can all agree they're really just little ninja helicopter bots. And yes, Skynet just gained a terrifying new ally.

Stand Inside A Collapsing Building

Have you ever wanted to stand in the middle of a building as it was demolished but found yourself discouraged by the whole mortal danger thing? Well Immersive Media has solved that issue by providing his awesome footage from the inside of a Texas stadium being demolished. What makes it really cool though is that you can look around 360 degrees throughout the entire video! You can even stare upwards at the massive girder that ends the poor camera.

Scott Pilgram vs The World

There's something truly awesome in how this film takes an issue we all know and puts it out there in a ridiculously literal way. Oh, and its got pretty flashing lights and lightsaber-ish things. That might have won me over too...

I always wondered what Waldo's back story was. Now I know that he wonders too...

Azureus Rising - Proof of Concept

You might know that I love me some mindless action films from time to time, but this little video is almost too over the top for me. There's pretty much nothing other than the gorgeous technical display going on here, but man do they have that in spades. Why do flips help you dodge poorly calibrated guns and why is there an empty city full of huge robots? Who cares, its preeeetty.

Paint the World Bright Colors

I can't tell if this is actually a *good* idea but it certainly makes for awesome stop motion and does brighten up the streets. That pure purple courtyard was a bit overwhelming though, hehe.

Music and Video Mashups

I try to not force my musical tastes onto all of you since I know they're not universal, but every once and a while I find something so epic that I just think it needs to be experienced. In this case I've got a collection of mashed up songs and music videos that I think are damn catchy. They include combos such as:
Prodigy / White Stripes
Gorillaz / Daft Punk
Kanye West / Beethoven (yes, the internet truly has everything)
Lady Gaga / Eurythmics

Here's an example from my awesome playlist!

Aviary Browser Tools

This release took me entirely by surprise, and I like to think I'm at least a little on top of developing technology. Aviary has released a set of 6 free fully featured tools that run entirely in your browser. In case you missed the salient point, these things run entirely inside your mother f***ing browser! They've got a lovely tool that simply for taking screen shots (Falcon) and marking them up, all the way to a Photoshop clone and a remixing board. Thats right, I composed and distributed a song entirely from within Chrome. Considering it took me about 15 min from my very first time booting the program to finished product, thats impressive.

Its available for Chrome and Firefox, which should cover everyone... right?

Post any cool stuff you make in the comments!

Wow, the Sky Hates Oklahoma

Not only does poor Oklahoma have to deal with being stuck in the middle of tornado alley, but apparently their weather patterns gleefully attempt to bludgeon them to death in between said twisters of doom. The huge hail storm going on here at the beginning is already intense, but trust me when I say you ain't seen nothing yet. B-b-b-baby, you just ain't see nothing yet... until around 1:45

Because there just haven't been enough Iron Man related posts on the site, here's one more. The production value on this little clip is quite impressive, it could pass for movie quality stuff I think. Also note her awesome golden safety pin.

Google Chrome is 'Lightning' Fast

Well in the browser wars at the start of this century I have found myself pretty firmly planed on the Google Chrome side of things, though I have to admit that there doesn't appear to be any browser clearly winning. I was poking around and it seems that Chrome came out of the gates with a monster lead, but then Firefox took a bunch of their ideas and possibly pulled ahead. Then again, the latest comparisons i could find were over a year old, so who knows now... Just watch the lightning below ;)

War Machine Cosplay Action

From what I gather around the internet this guy is kind of a douche and also unwilling to help people duplicate his effort, but then on the flip side what he created is so bad ass that I can't really boycott showing it around. You'd be doing yourself a disservice by not watching the following:

Damien Walters 2010

If you haven't seen Damien Walters in action before, prepare to have your mind rocked. A show reel like this a few years back caught the eye of Jackie Chan's manager who was looking for stunt talent. Now this guy does films on the side, though he teaches gymnastics the rest of the time at his father's gym (pictured in the video). To make Batman just give this man a cape, a billion dollars and some emotional troubles.

Elephant Paints Self Portrait

As far as I can tell this video is entirely legitimate. The camera never cuts and it smoothly pulls back and forth between the easel and the elephant painting the picture several times. If so, this video just blew my mind. I don't know if the elephant was just trained to draw that specific picture or if it has some idea of 'drawing an elephant', but either way that painting actually has nice lines and is clearly identifiable! All hail elephants, our new lords and masters!!

Severed But Alive Dog Head

This old footage is simultaneously scientifically interesting and morally horrifying at the same time. I want to fully warn people that you're about to see a dog that was surgically decapitated and then artificially sustained via a crude blood oxidization system. If you love dogs and/or are squeamish you might regret watching this. I can't tell if I do...

Solid Potato Salad

This is one of those videos you've just gotta watch to appreciate. GTA Meets Coca-Cola

Damn you related videos section! Well here's a 2nd Coke video that I feel needs to be posted. Don't worry, my capitalist pig gland must be running low by now. But if you have played GTA then this will be hilarious. If not... uh... maybe it will be? I haven't not not played it, so I can't say.

Coca-Cola's Vendor of Happiness

Damnit, I feel dirty for promoting coke on here but I have to admit that its a clever ploy. It even cracked my cynical heart (but just for a second, don't worry). Then I thought about all the poor kids who will forever be disappointed with the performance of other vending machines. Tis' a right shame.

If you haven't figured out already I have a soft spot in my heart for amusing remixes of things you wouldn't expect. In that vein I present DJ Steve Porter's Scrubs remix, and everyone loves Scrubs. This is the DJ who really broke out with his auto tuned mix Slap Chop.

Its hard to imagine a better bad guy than a Nazi zombie, but perhaps you find yourself wondering if they could even exist. I mean, if a nazi dies and becomes a zombie does he retain his Nazi ideals? HDTV is Impressive?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's wondered about the new HD fad. Its great that we're upgrading from our previous "standard definition" TVs and its certainly pretty, but 1080p isn't exactly mind blowing resolution compared to so many of our other tech gadgets. A 1080p screen is 4x3.3 iPhones large. I don't know if that is an interesting statistic. Oh well.

Kung Fu Bunny

This awesome animation is actually the third movie following a series of two others. The basic idea is that there is this cocky bunny who beats the crap out of the cameraman/animator guy, so he made a dog to combat him. Sadly the dog has performed sub par so far, but perhaps things are looking up. This video is an impressive mix of live action and animation blended together.

(Not gonna lie, I definitely cheered for the dog. Underdogs ftw)

The Sexed Generation

This is for all you nerds out there. Have you ever thought to yourself that Star Trek was super sexual? Well you will after you watch this lovely compilation that dives into the gutter then begins digging very hard. You'll either laugh, wince, or probably both. (audio is NSFW)

Facial Hair to Trustworthiness Mapping

Well shit, looks like I'm questionable at best and moving on towards unsavory. Time to grow out a mustache to improve my self image. (click to zoom, you'll need it)

Digital Windows Are Here

Have you ever sat in your cubical/parent basement/batcave and thought to yourself how nice it'd be to be able to look out onto the Golden Gate Bridge? Or space? Well this woman apparently has invented a little setup using a wiimote that mimics a window allowing you to peer into a virtual world. You can even change the world with a flick of your iPhone. How sauve.

Of course there's the downside that it only works for one person in the room while everyone else gets sea sick. Oh, and the super pimp bling you need (see baby). Its a cool idea though and certainly more interesting then one of those digital picture frames.

Top Light Graffiti Artists

Now I'm gonna be frank with you, I think graffiti is a misnomer here. What these artists do is possibly the most transient kind of stuff one could do. But hey, whatever makes them feel edgy and cool right? Of course I only mock them because I'm jealous. thats some gorgeous stuff they're creating with just light sticks and a long exposure.

Tough Guy Challenge 2010

The name pretty much sums up this event. The 24th annual Tough Guy Challenge has a waiver saying, "It's my own bloody fault for being here," and then proceeds to brutalize its entrants. The winner completed the course in one hour 18 minutes, and 600 people never finished at all (out of 5,000). Take at look at these amazing photos of people crawling through icy mud (literally) and jumping through fire (again, literally). Badass.

*The* Action Film

Behold, I have witnessed the trailer to the action film. This is not just an action film, but the one that shall encompass them all. If this were a venn diagram, The Expendables would be the circle that engulfed every other film. "But why?" I hear you ask. Allow me to rattle off some of the cast:
-Sylvester Stallone
-Bruce Willis
-Jet Li
-Jason Statham
-Arnold "Get to the Choppah!" Schwarzenegger
-Mickey Rourke
-Stone Cold Steve Austin
-UFC Fighter Steve Couture

If You Dream, The Terrorists Win

Aside from the fact this video is just over the top, take a moment to step back and appreciate how much can be conveyed by a good sound artist. In this day and age we focus so much on the visuals of movies and games, but don't forget about that sound technician who brought it all together. Those guys are fucking sweet!

... but us visual guys are still more important of course...

Galactic Empire State of Mind

Well if YouTube is to be used as a cultural thermometer (or perhaps barometer would be more appropriate?) then Jay-Z's song "Empire State of Mind" with well over 60 million views is something you've already seen. You know, the one where he awkwardly avoids making eye contact with the camera even when he's the only thing on screen?

Anyway, as with all big things it turns out they're better with Star Wars. Heck, this one even has an awesome title for it.
